What is the Intelligent Scan function for browser cookies?

It helps you find and keep useful data from web browsers, such as login information:

This page talks about the Options > Cookies part of the CCleaner app.

Skip to the Intelligent Scan instructions by going to How to use Intelligent Scan in CCleaner below.

The Intelligent Scan function acts like an extension of the Cookies to Keep list in that it allows you to keep data from specific websites that you use a lot (see the screenshot for the Cookies menu in Options > Cookies).

How to use Intelligent Scan in CCleaner:

  1. Go to CCleaner, Options > Cookies. This screen displays cookies from all the web browsers installed on your PC and may take a few seconds to load (see screenshot).
  2. To start the Intelligent Scan, click the right mouse button on an item in the Cookies to Delete or Cookies on Computer list and choose Intelligent Scan from the menu.
  3. This makes a modal or dialog box appear (labeled Intelligent Cookie Scan), and it asks you if you want to keep your login data for websites. Select No to cancel the operation. Selecting Yes (Recommended) adds all detected cookies from the Cookies to Delete or Cookies on Computer list to the Cookies to Keep list. This displays on the right-hand side of the CCleaner app window.
