We changed the name to Smart Cleaning in CCleaner version 5.46 of and beyond:
We renamed Monitoring because some of our users assumed it was something we used for collecting data, which was incorrect.
The purpose of this feature has always been to check your system’s level of junk files and to display contextual prompts to clean or trigger cleaning (such as when a lot of junk has built up, or when you close a browser after using it).
We now explain Smart Cleaning options more clearly:
As well as renaming this feature to ‘Smart Cleaning,’ in v5.46 onwards, we've made sure CCleaner’s Smart Cleaning options are easier to understand, making it easier to choose your cleaning preferences.
Note: Smart Browser Cleaning is only available in CCleaner Professional, the paid version of CCleaner.
